In this exhibition, Raj Chowdhury examines the complex workings of his own mind, finding a space to rest between contradictory thoughts. The exhibition doesn't answer his question; it stays with it.
Each work is built from fragments of his life, threaded with recurring notions of time, memory, and symbol — traces of Egyptian, Persian and Japanese imagery, lending the work a sense of movement. He uses pastel tones to submerge themes of political or social satire, and multiple layers of paint to blend multiple perspectives of storytelling.
A larger landscape keeps forming and dissolving across the works, shapes branching into smaller scenes like glimpses caught while moving — much like memory itself
