"Sacred stone, Sacred roadside stone, you, who have become hammer and ax and home. And tomb."
- Zbigniew Herbert
Between Myth and Matter approaches the sacred not as a fixed realm of belief, but as a way of sensing connections between bodies, ancestral forms, machines, ecologies, and the everyday.
Bringing together diverse artistic practices, the exhibition places antique sculpture alongside contemporary image-making, the ritualised with the vernacular, and the intimate with the estranged. Through these encounters, myth and the esoteric emerge as active languages for navigating uncertainty, transformation, and our relationship with time.
Coinciding with Kolkata’s spiritually charged calendar, the two-month group exhibition reflects on belief in its persistence and mutation, forming a provisional cosmology that remains shifting, unfinished, and alive.
